A spider stands on the web it just made, entitled to the space it occupies by virtue of its work. It lifts its head at me from my window seat, and hisses, “Are you certain you are a human? Your arrogance is laughable. You are obviously a spider. Stop trying to bite my flesh! You offend me with your insults.” It lowers its head, thinking it hidden between its fore-legs, and snickers ruefully, self-satisfied by its deception.
“I am aghast, Spider, at the words I have just heard. Are you certain you are not a spider and I a human you are trying to lure into a web of deceit that would end me?” I reply.
Still concealing its true intention, the spider snaps its head and it changes its tone. Sharply, it shouts, “Don’t try and lure me into your web of lies! I’m no fool! You are a venomous arachnid intent on fulfilling your natural (it licks its lips) and murderous instincts!”
I shake my head. Poor spider. Does the Creator of all truth who designed the Universe on a foundation of principles upon which all of creation rests, include, also, this deceitful spider’s mouth in Her vast and infinite harmony?
The spider changes its tone to be more seductive. “Come, little boy, into the arms of your lover,” it coos.
Horrified, I shut the window whereupon the spider speaks and I flee into the seclusion of my house.
