This is a book of my poems written between 1998-2005, and edited most of that ultimate year on into 2006. It was a pairing down of an immensely prolific creative period in which I was desolate emotionally, in the concrete and metal grid of New York City, without a single companion, or even old friends from Maryland to speak with very often. I could barely afford to feed myself, and when I did, I chose badly. When I began work as a cater waiter, surrounded by other mercurial artists, it was as though my suppressed heart was given space to balloon and lines of poetry jolted me to write. But that had been happening the whole time. I believe I have been influenced spiritually, by an invisible entity who loves me, to write- and I pray, nearly on my knees, trying not to beg, for that love to reach me again, again, again… a nearly sloven man, offering my heart to God’s Word. But, He teaches me to stand upright to receive It, so that It fills me before flowing out of my mouth and hands.
