Imam: What you have done, sir… my tiny heart expands beyond its reach to embrace you… a man who came from dirt and crime and the life you lived… it is greater than the Cinderella, it is more Christian than Jesus- to come to God in all humility and power as you have.

Mike: But how can I come to God as I am? Violent urges are in me, I am hungry and lustful and my ego thinks I myself am a god.

Imam: And a violent god at that! (he laughs) As you love God, come to God. The only way to come to God is as you are. There is no other way. There is nothing you can do. You have already embraced Him. Hehe…it’s too late, I am sorry, but not so sorry- here we are, here you are, with Him. Just throw up your hands. “Here I am God, with all of the soot of life burnt around me covering my own light. Shine your face upon me, God. Here I am, sniffing tears and snot falling from my face. Here I am wanting to kill. Here I am wanting life and wanting death, unsure which is right.
