Ode to Cockroaches, edited
Hunting a cockroach sneaking through my kitchen cabinets.
I smoke weed, and feel more connected to it as a living, sentient being.
My utter disgust for it, though,
compels me onward to the hunt.
Why does it elicit such a response?
Maybe the cockroach is
the animal that most closely resembles
The behavior of humankind
We are at least equal to the cockroach in harmony with our vast Creator,
and we are reminded of our own condition when we see them. Perfect mirror.
Our behavior is their behavior.
We spread disease, encroach on specific locations and dominate them.
We populate our spoiled land.
We are brilliant adapters and our craftiness that is unmatched.
We are relentless in our progress.
Difficult to kill.
Their greatest strength is how disgusted we are with them.
They crawl at you if you try and kill them,
try to get on your body
because they know
if you crushed one of them on your own body with your own hand,
you would feel like you were dying a horrifying and brutal death
and thus you cannot hurt them, yet.

HeartSpeaking (or Heart-Speaking) (HeartSpeaking is what we do ourselves; Heart-Speaking is what we do with others when there is a ‘3rd Person’ present. That 3rd person can be spiritual. It is “I to you” being spoken by all, and “you to me” (or “you-me,” or “I-you/You/Thou”) being spoken and understood by all.
Let us demonstrate our folly, and our transfiguration in our Circus of Light and Dark,
Living Divine Meaning for ourselves and toward each other.
We speak what we are. We heal, we transform.

Walking out from camp, I stopped to look for ripe peaches in the grove.
I sought the lower branches and found none,
so I walked tree to tree seeking ripe peaches in the lower branches
and found none. I walked back to the initial tree and there intuited for what some middle branches might offer me.
There I found several ripe peaches in my immedate field of vision
and took all the ones that were easy to find, pocketed them, and walked home to eat the sweet, juicy treat.
There, I contemplated the last woman I dated. How she told me to eat the leaf of a peach tree and it was bitter, but then a musky, sweet perfume fills your nose. I liken it to marzipan, and the soft nut inside the cracked peach seed tastes exactly the same- it is as though the essence of peach that one is tasting.
